Developing news reports indicate that Nageeye Ali Khaliif, a former poet who recently joined the Al-Shabaab militant group, was killed in a battle.
According to sources, Nageeye and several other Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in intense fighting today in Alkowsar, Middle Shabelle region. Reports suggest that Nageeye, who had left Mogadishu to join the group, was among those attacking government forces but was ultimately killed on the battlefield.
“The extremist known as Abwaan Nageeye was neutralized by our national heroes. He took his last breath in Alkowsar,” a source stated.
