The Cabinet of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama, has issued several critical decisions regarding national security.

During their meeting, the ministers discussed the ongoing military operations against the Al-Shabaab militant group in various regions of the country, commending the national army and local community fighters (Maawisley) for their recent victories.

The newly issued directives carry significant legal and punitive measures that will impact all Somali citizens. These include strict enforcement of laws against misinformation, collaboration with terrorists, and violations of security protocols.

Key Decisions Announced by the Cabinet:

  1. The Cabinet expressed strong appreciation for the Somali National Armed Forces and the brave civilian fighters actively engaged in combatting Al-Shabaab militants.
  2. Citizens are reminded that spreading false information, either directly or indirectly, through media or social platforms is strictly prohibited. Anyone found guilty will face severe legal consequences, including prosecution and harsh penalties.
  3. Any citizen who allows their home, business premises, or vehicle to be used for criminal activities will be considered an active participant in terrorism. According to counterterrorism laws, offenders will face the same severe punishments as terrorists, including asset seizures and nationalization of properties used in terrorist acts.
  4. The government reaffirms its warning to citizens residing in areas where anti-terror operations are underway. People must avoid locations occupied by Al-Shabaab, as intensified ground and air strikes will be launched against the militants.
  5. A new policy prohibits the entry of weapons or military vehicles into the Aden Adde International Airport perimeter in Mogadishu. Security agencies will soon release further implementation details.
