Multiple reports are emerging about the significant losses inflicted on Al-Shabaab militants in a major operation that took place last night in the EelBur district of Galgadud region. The raid targeted a group of Al-Shabaab militants who were stationed in the area.
The operation, carried out by the Maawiisley forces, struck militants located at a base in the village of Biya-Adle, under Eel-Lahelay area in the region.
According to a statement released by the government’s media, the attack was a success, causing substantial damage to Al-Shabaab forces and unfolding as planned.
The statement highlighted: “The local defense forces launched an attack on a base where the militants of the Khawarij group were located in the Biya-Adle area under Eel-Lahelay, in the EelBur district of Galgadud.”
Additionally, the statement pointed out that the militants targeted in the raid were members of Al-Shabaab, who had been preparing to carry out attacks in the EelBur area, in central Somalia.
Although the government has not specified the exact casualties, reports indicate a significant blow was dealt to the group. The statement further noted: “The area of the attack was where militants of the Khawarij group, who had been causing harm to the Somali people, had been preparing to continue their assaults.”
The government also praised the efforts of the local forces, stating: “The heroes of the defense forces were outraged by the havoc the Khawarij group had been wreaking on Somali communities in recent days.”
