Jubbaland Rejects National Consultative Council Resolutions, Accuses Federal Government of Political Invasion

The Jubbaland administration has openly declared that the resolutions issued by the National Consultative Council at the recently concluded meeting in Mogadishu hold no relevance to them.

Jubbaland’s Minister of Information, Abdifitah Mohamed Mukhtar, dismissed the meeting’s outcomes as insignificant and incapable of altering the political reality in Jubbaland.

The National Consultative Council had called on the Federal Ministry of Interior to issue a legal recommendation addressing the situation in Jubbaland, with the aim of establishing a fully legitimate regional administration.

This call sparked strong reactions, with many politicians accusing the Federal Government of attempting to sideline the current Jubbaland administration and replace it with a new one.

MP Abdulladif Sanyare, a member of the Somali Parliament, harshly criticized the Federal Government, accusing it of launching a political offensive against Jubbaland.

“Jubbaland needs genuine preparedness. It is facing a political onslaught from the Federal Government, which has clearly deviated from the path of state-building. This move poses a threat to national unity and cohesion and undermines the federal system,” MP Sanyare stated.

Jubbaland had earlier announced the suspension of its cooperation with the Federal Government, accusing it of acting like a private company limited to the Banaadir region.

Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe) also reiterated that any decision made by the Federal Government would have no impact on the existence or governance of Jubbaland.
