Middle East Unites in Outrage Over Israel’s Strikes on Iran

Israel launched heavy airstrikes last night targeting military and nuclear facilities across Iran—an escalation that has drawn strong regional condemnation and sparked alarm throughout the Middle East on Friday.

The strikes came just days before scheduled nuclear talks between the United States and Iran, expected to be held in Oman on Sunday, according to officials from both countries and mediators from Oman.

Oman strongly condemned the Israeli attack, calling it “a grave violation of international law and the UN Charter.” The Omani government held Israel responsible for any consequences resulting from the assault and urged the international community to take a clear stand against what it called “dangerous and provocative actions.”

Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also issued strong condemnations. Both countries labeled the strike a blatant breach of Iran’s sovereignty. Qatar described the attack as part of Israel’s “ongoing policy to escalate tensions and derail diplomatic solutions.”

The UAE emphasized the need for “maximum restraint and vigilance” to avoid further regional escalation, stressing that dialogue and adherence to international law are the only viable paths to de-escalation.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement described the strike as an “illegal act of aggression” and “a new display of hostility backed by the U.S. and its allies.”

Turkey also reacted sharply. In a strongly worded statement, Ankara condemned the assault, saying it proved Israel has no genuine interest in diplomatic resolutions. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called the attack “a dangerous act of war” and accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of intentionally fueling regional chaos.

Saudi Arabia referred to the strikes as “heinous attacks,” urging the United Nations Security Council to take immediate action to halt Israel’s aggression.

According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), hundreds of fighter jets targeted over 100 sites across Iran, including nuclear facilities and military bases housing senior Iranian officials. The IDF claimed the strike killed two of Iran’s top commanders, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, and Hossein Salami, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The wave of international condemnation comes at a critical time, as diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region now face a serious setback.
