MOGADISHU, February 16, 2026 – A Somali military court on Monday executed two men convicted of carrying out deadly assassinations and bomb attacks in the capital, judicial officials confirmed.
The executions were carried out by firing squad early Monday morning in Mogadishu following death sentences previously issued by the Court of the Armed Forces.
The men were identified as Hassan Ali Iftiin Buule, also known as Gacmey, and Hassan Ali Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed, who was known by the aliases Baari, Biibaaye, and Sa’ad. Both were found guilty of involvement in killings and bombings that targeted civilians in Mogadishu.
According to court officials, the two had been sentenced to death by the First Instance Military Court. The executions were implemented in line with a qisas ruling issued earlier by the Military Court of the Somali Armed Forces.
Judicial authorities stated that the executions were carried out after the completion of all legal procedures and the exhaustion of appeals.
“The execution of these sentences is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening security and ensuring accountability for acts of terrorism in the capital,” a spokesperson for the military court said in an official statement.
The Armed Forces Court, which handles cases related to national security and terrorism, reiterated that individuals involved in efforts to destabilize the country would face the full force of the law.
The executions come as the federal government intensifies security operations in Mogadishu amid continued efforts to dismantle Al-Shabaab networks operating in the city.
