The House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia officially resumed its sessions today at Villa Hargeisa in Mogadishu, following a brief suspension prompted by a political dispute that had led to the temporary exclusion of several Members of Parliament.
A political resolution was reached regarding the dispute, paving the way for the reinstatement of 24 MPs—among them opposition members and cabinet ministers—who had previously been barred from attending parliamentary sittings.
These MPs had been suspended due to political disagreements and motions of no confidence directed at the leadership of the House.
Despite their reinstatement, opposition lawmakers continue to stand by the motion they submitted against the Speaker of the House, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Adan Madobe), which reportedly centers on concerns about his leadership style and governance practices within the chamber.
Sources indicate that political tensions remain unresolved, and much attention is now focused on how the parliamentary leadership will respond to the motion and the potential ramifications for internal parliamentary cohesion.
