The Puntland Political Forum (PPF), a coalition of opposition politicians in the Puntland region, has called for a broad political conference to deliberate on the second phase of Puntland’s state-building process.
In a statement issued by the Forum, the group extended congratulations to the SSC-Khaatumo administration on its recent recognition by the Federal Republic of Somalia, describing the move as a “significant political milestone.”
“The Puntland Political Forum anticipates that the recognition of SSC-Khaatumo will lead to a political realignment within Puntland,” the statement read.
The Forum also praised the recent visit by Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, to the city of Lasanod, describing it as a symbol of a new and promising political shift.
Furthermore, the Forum urged residents of both SSC-Khaatumo and Puntland to strengthen cooperation, calling on Puntland citizens in particular to double down on their support for the newly recognized SSC-Khaatumo administration.
The opposition figures under the Forum stressed that it is time to reassess the political future of Puntland’s regions.
