Social Media Erupts Over Ahmed Madobe’s Claims Against Fahad Yasin

These statements sparked significant reactions on social media, with many interpreting Madobe’s remarks as an endorsement of a politics driven by force, coercion, and survival of the fittest—an approach that contradicts principles of proper governance.

The President of Jubaland, Ahmed Madobe, gave an extensive interview covering various topics, including his ongoing dispute with the federal government and the circumstances that led to his withdrawal from the National Consultative Council (NCC) meeting in Mogadishu.

Ahmed Madobe stated that he left the NCC meeting due to an attempted term extension, arguing that he was looking out for the interests of the Darod clan, as he claimed to be the only representative of the group in the meeting.

When asked about remarks made in 2022 by former NISA director Fahad Yasin, who at the time referred to him as “the cancer of Somali politics,” Ahmed Madobe accused Fahad Yasin of believing that politics is purely about financial gain and that money can solve all problems. He alleged—without providing evidence—that Fahad had personally offered him money in exchange for stepping down from power.

These statements sparked significant reactions on social media, with many interpreting Madobe’s remarks as an endorsement of a politics driven by force, coercion, and survival of the fittest—an approach that contradicts principles of proper governance.

During the interview, Ahmed Madobe also discussed the Raaskambooni conflict, claiming that he had repeatedly warned the government about its approach. He ultimately blamed the federal government’s forces for initiating the fighting.

Fahad Yasin had previously predicted that Ahmed Madobe would eventually engage in armed conflict with the federal government under President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, just as he had clashed with past administrations, including those led by President Abdullahi Yusuf, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, Hassan Sheikh in his first term, and Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
