The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia has strongly denied reports circulating on certain media outlets and social media platforms claiming that some members of the Somali delegation failed to return home after attending the 113th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva.
In an official press release, the Ministry confirmed that all members of Somalia’s official delegation have returned to the country in full accordance with their professional mandates and responsibilities.
“It is deeply disappointing that unverified information damaging to the reputation of government institutions and public trust has been spread,” the Ministry stated.
The Ministry described the allegations as baseless and misleading, accusing those spreading them of intentionally distorting facts for sensational or politically motivated reasons. It emphasized that the Somali delegation played an active and constructive role in discussions on labor rights and worker welfare, fully representing the nation’s interests on the global stage.
The Ministry urged journalists, commentators, and social media users to uphold ethical standards by verifying information before publication and to refrain from sharing unconfirmed reports that could mislead the public or serve partisan agendas.
