Somali Ministers Head to War Frontlines to Boost Troops’ Morale

Their tour will include visits to Shabelle regions and parts of Galmudug, areas currently witnessing intense battles against Al-Shabaab.

Several ministers from the Federal Government of Somalia are heading to the frontlines today to encourage the Somali National Army (SNA) and Maawiisley militia in their fight against the militant group Al-Shabaab.

The ministers, departing from Mogadishu, are carrying out Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre’s directive for the government to relocate to the battlefront, ensuring full support for the military campaign.

Their tour will include visits to Shabelle regions and parts of Galmudug, areas currently witnessing intense battles against Al-Shabaab. The primary objective is to meet with troops, reinforce their commitment, and motivate them to continue the fight until victory is achieved.

Last week, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre announced the relocation of his Dan-Qaran government to the frontlines in an emergency Cabinet meeting. During the announcement, he emphasized that Somalia has a historic opportunity to eliminate Al-Shabaab in a short timeframe and urged citizens to unite in securing the nation’s peace and stability.

With the government now directly engaged in frontline operations, Somalia’s fight against Al-Shabaab is entering a critical phase, aiming to restore national security and stability.
