The Federal Government of Somalia, through the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, has confirmed the death of Abbas Mohamed Hool, a senior Al-Shabaab commander notorious for orchestrating deadly plots and attacks in Mogadishu and the Lower and Middle Shabelle regions.
According to the Ministry’s statement, Hool succumbed to severe injuries sustained during a recent, carefully coordinated operation carried out by the Somali National Armed Forces. The injuries reportedly triggered further complications that ultimately led to his death.
Abbas Hool had joined Al-Shabaab in 2007 and was directly involved in numerous brutal assaults targeting civilians in Mogadishu. He was considered one of the most dangerous Khawarij (extremist) leaders and had long been on the priority hit list of Somalia’s security agencies and armed forces.
“The Federal Government of Somalia reiterates that there is no escape from justice for the Khawarij leaders who have made it their mission to massacre the Somali people,” the statement emphasized.
This announcement is part of the government’s continued effort to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s leadership structure and assure citizens that justice is being served against those who threaten national stability.
