The SSC-Khaatumo Police have arrested 23 men in connection with a brutal gang rape and assault that took place in Laascaanood on the night of Friday, June 14, 2025, at approximately 10:30 PM.
According to an official statement released by the SSC-Khaatumo Police Command, the crime targeted two young women and triggered swift response from the authorities. Within 48 hours, police conducted a rapid operation resulting in the arrest of 23 suspects. One additional suspect remains at large, but security forces are actively pursuing him.
The SSC-Khaatumo Police emphasized that all arrested individuals will be brought before the court to ensure full justice is served. They firmly stated that no leniency will be shown in cases involving gross human rights violations such as sexual violence.
