Hirshabelle’s Vice President, Yusuf Ahmed Hagar Dabageed, has commended the Maawisley militia from the Hawadle clan for their relentless fight against Al-Shabaab, urging them to intensify their efforts to liberate areas still under the group’s control.
During a visit to the front lines, Dabageed emphasized that the ongoing battle against Al-Shabaab has no room for negotiations, unlike conflicts between neighboring nations or fraternal clans, which often end in dialogue.
“Every war ends with negotiations, but this one will only end with bullets. Those who denied you even the simplest water-filled plastic bags—do you think they’ll allow you access to your own wells? No more blood should be shed over disputes. From now on, the only fight we have is against Al-Shabaab,” declared Dabageed.
He called on both federal and local forces to follow the directives of their commanders, warning that internal divisions would only lead to setbacks and failure.
“This enemy has turned our neighboring communities against each other. But I am certain we will defeat them if we unite. My brothers, from today, no blood should be spilled except that of Al-Shabaab. The national army leads, and you stand right behind them. Attack the enemy, avoid discord, and follow orders—victory will be yours,” he urged.
Dabageed’s remarks come as large-scale military operations against Al-Shabaab continue in the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions.
