Villa Somalia has announced that the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has dismissed Mohamed Hassan Ibrahim (Qoone), the President’s Adviser on Federal Member State Relations, from his position.
President Hassan Sheikh expressed his gratitude to Mohamed Hassan Ibrahim (Qoone) for his service to the nation during his tenure and wished him a bright future.
Although the official statement from Villa Somalia did not provide a clear reason for Qoone’s dismissal, it can be inferred that the President was dissatisfied with his performance or that he did not meet the expectations set for him.
“The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia always expects the senior officials he appoints to contribute to the progress and unity of the country, carrying out their duties efficiently, with integrity, and in adherence to the responsibilities entrusted to them,” the statement from Villa Somalia read.
In late 2022, President Hassan Sheikh appointed Mohamed Hassan Ibrahim (Qoone) as his Adviser on Federal Member State Relations. Qoone, a former Member of Parliament, previously represented the Beledweyne district in the Hiiraan region of the Hirshabelle administration.
Since taking office, President Hassan Sheikh has appointed several advisers, some of whom have faced criticism for their work. However, sources close to Villa Somalia suggest that these appointments are partly aimed at balancing representation for certain clans and regional administrations, with little impact on the President’s decision-making.
