National Security Advisor Confirms Somali President’s Safety After Bomb Attack in Mogadishu

Advisor Hussein described the rumors circulating about the attack as baseless and false, aimed at spreading misleading information about President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The National Security Advisor to the President of Somalia, Hussein Sheikh Ali, confirmed that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is safe following a bomb explosion that occurred earlier today in Mogadishu.

The explosion, which took place at the Eel-Gabta intersection while President Hassan Sheikh was departing the city, caused no harm. Reports indicate that the blast was caused by a mine placed on the side of the road.

Advisor Hussein described the rumors circulating about the attack as baseless and false, aimed at spreading misleading information about President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. He emphasized, “The President of the Republic is safe and is currently undertaking trips to assess the blessed operations being carried out by the Somali National Army in various regions of the country, with full support from the local communities.”

He further added, “This country will not be intimidated by malicious rumors and lies.”

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud had been traveling to the frontlines today to show support for the brave soldiers and local fighters. While on the battlefield, he will evaluate the situation of the troops and listen to reports from the military commanders and leaders leading the operations.
