Mortar Attack Targets Heavily Guarded Halane Camp in Mogadishu

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the rockets landed near the Movcon area, a key location where UN personnel board flights.

Details are emerging about a rocket attack on the heavily guarded Halane compound located near Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu. The camp, which houses key international figures, including United Nations personnel, African Union officials, and foreign embassies, was struck by several rockets. The explosions were heard across various districts in the Banaadir region, and it is reported that two rockets hit the camp directly.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the rockets landed near the Movcon area, a key location where UN personnel board flights. However, it remains unclear if the attack caused any casualties, and there has been no official statement from the Somali government or security forces regarding the damage or potential injuries.

Halane has previously been targeted in similar rocket attacks, many of which were claimed by the militant group Al-Shabaab. This recent assault follows a bomb attack by Al-Shabaab the previous day on a convoy traveling with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Mogadishu.

Al-Shabaab has since claimed responsibility for the rocket attack on Halane, threatening to escalate such assaults in the future.
